All-Candidates' Forum – August 29'11
Malton Community Centre
Closing Remarks |
Residents of Ward 5-Mississauga:
Literacy lowers crime rates. Literacy outcomes improve where Community Health Centres locate near schools.
I am Catherine Soplet and I am running to represent you in Ward 5.
"Building up our Neighbourhoods" is my campaign to connect residents to literacy and health.
Neighbourhoods stabilize, and prosperity follows.
I am a civic entrepreneur and parent advocate for public education. My peer-tutor literacy concept was first recorded in the Mississauga Summit 2007.
| Since then, I have placed $33,000 in Ministry of Education grants. Literacy and then provincial EQAO scores improved in participating schools.
In June I was not a candidate. But I worked hard to help Malton Community Health Centre get its doors open. My literacy network responded to add its voice, so I put my name on the ballot.
The result: On August 19, Malton's funding was confirmed for doors to open in 2013.
Soplet sits in the grassroots of the ballot at Number 23. I am your champion for literacy and health.
I need your vote ... to do more work for you.
Vote Soplet, and let's get "Building up our Neighbourhoods".
